We can learn a lot from dogs. I agree with dog walking and getting out into the fresh air can be beneficial but I’ve realised that if you struggle with not living in the present you can actually walk the dog and not even remember you did it. With CPTSD I’m realising more and more that’s it hard to enjoy anything if you don’t live in the present. Dogs are so good at this. They enjoy every second of life. Overthinking is not living in the present. Tackling these things can really help us get the most from what dogs can give us. (Speaking as a dog owner, all pets can be helpful, apologies to other pet owners for not mentioning)

I think it’s also interesting how the act of caring for another being can provide a sense of purpose, which might be helpful for people struggling with low mood or anxiety.

If you can deal with it, it really does help.

Walking your dog can boost your mental health by reducing stress, increasing physical activity, providing companionship, and encouraging social interaction, all of which improve mood and overall well-being.
