Hey everyone! I see a lot freaking out about the virus! I dont blame you, look what kind of media outlets we have! but yall lets remember the stats! 2% fatality rate, and that number starts for people 60 years old and older, so if youre in your 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's your chances of not surviving it is LESS THAN 1.9%. Also the people who arent surviving ALREADY have serious health conditions on top of the age risk, ie: Diabetes, Heart Disease, Lung Disease and Cancer. the virus is very real and very frightening but lets see the cup as half full! 98% of the worlds population IS FULLY RECOVERING! if you have to turn the media off to have peace of mind, do that! Also, its approaching ALLERGY SEASON YALL! we ALL are about to be sneezing! just because youre coughing and sneezing doesnt mean anything, when you coughed and sneezed last year was your first thought corona??? NO! so relax yall! this foolishness will pass! and what time is it? ELECTION TIME! hint hint, every election we get something, Ebola, Swine, etc... while i think this is the craziest! i dont think our real threat is the virus, i think its the aftermath that we should be more concerned of... in the comments i will upload some pics of the stats!
Hi Danielle,
Great advice but if anyone is worried they should check nhs24.com for advice. Also handy tips are distract yourself, I have been watching stand up comedians and comedies. They say laughter is the best medicine and it releases happy endorphins in your brain. I have also stopped watching the news and I am taking a break from social media and it has really helped. Stick to government sites for information as Danielle said too many conspiracies going around and remember its 98% survival rate.
Stay calm folks Best wishes Louisa
yes the real sources give you the info that gives way more peace of mind then these dang media sites, they love announcing the infected and never the recovered!!! its crazy! and definitely getting off of social media!
Trying to be optimistic for myself here. If you are under 50 your chances of surviving is 99.8%.
If over 50 it is 98%. So I would say that the odds are pretty good.
I'm afraid of catching the cold flu or any virus, they seem to affect me really badly, but not in a way I worry each day or get anxious. Corona is making me anxious because I don't want to be carrying it and spreading it. When Boris Johnston and the media announced to expect more fatalities I felt and still feel anxious, not for myself but others I know who if they will get it could die from it. There's people in my house who could easily die from it due to old age and lung conditions asthma and decrease in lung capacity. I try not to do it, but if I hear about it I get scenarios of them dying and death and all that and how to cope with it if it does happen.
I am a little concerned about my great aunt and my cousin in America who has diabetes, she's a nurse..
Has there anyone with underlying health conditions survived it?
I don't go out much anyway as in going to large crowded areas, I don't feel like going to supermarkets and feel everyone is a potential carrier, I always carry hand wipes with me.
The nearest confirmed case is a 2 hour bus ride from here, only 4 case for now.
Since I don't live on my own, not hearing the news is kinda hard. My parents who I live with don't fully understand how virus spread, if they get a cold or flu, I get it. Neither does the neighbour who is about 94 , he thinks smoking will protect him.
I feel sad for those in places like Italy and the headlines about things like last words of certain people who died makes me anxious and depressed...
I hope they can find a vaccine soon and this bugger sods off.... I need a holiday.
we will survive! :)
i completely understand how scary this is. its almost surreal. i think its best if you and your loved ones follow the social distancing protocol. for two weeks at least.
as far as the chances of survival with sn underlying illness, so far about 150,000 people (or more or less) have tested positive for it. the death toll is about 5,500 (or more or less)....
so that means likely 135,500 people have recovered from it. but the news wont reassure that.
unfortunately yes this virus is severely harmful for people with ALREADY SERIOUS underlying illness.
just stay faithful.
I try to distract myself from the news but I get that urge to Need to know what's going on... always stressing over this ☹ weird thing is as far as I know I'm not in the high risk group but that doesn't give me comfort due to the things I've read
