hello I'm 30 year old female and I live in Florida I've been avoiding making this post because I've been doing my hardest to stay hopeful and optimistic but I'm scared I do have awful health anxiety and I constantly worry about the future as well and this virus is making me so scared because I dont want to die I've realized finally after years and years or horrible anxiety that I want to live and I have been making such progress in my life I'm in college I have a wonderful boyfriend now and then this happens and I'm slipping back to my old ways of being scared and just hiding in my room all day it all feels like an awful dream I'm trying to be strong for everyone around me but im falling apart and im scared I'll be dead soon im sorry if this post is harsh but this is how I felt for almost 2 weeks straight now.
chances are you won't die unless you have a compromised immune system or elderly. people are really freaking out over this it's literally no different than the flu it's just way more contagious.
@chris74771 you are far from correct on this and haven't been keeping up with covid19 news apparently. please educate yourself before spewing nonsense. this is a highly contagious pathogen that likely won't be affected by the warmer weather transition with regard to disease spread like your typical influenza virus.
many young and healthy individuals are dying in this pandemic. those most affected are in the 20-54 age range. it's been estimated 98 million will be infected with 480 thousand deaths.
albinowithanxie, fortunately 6% of the cases thus far are fatal. many are starting to post what it feels like recovering. some have stated it feels worse than the flu and this is from those that didn't need medical assistant with regard to pneumonia.
also, if you do happen to contract this and you're able to recover just fine, there is no chance for being infected again due to the antibodies your produces during recovery.
it's also possible you won't contract this at all. if you youtube the CDC channel there's a lot of great content, included some individuals providing details on how they're managing the disease. one gentleman was very aggressive in his treatment and seems to be doing well. he immediately used tylenol arthritis strength fever reducer, a prescription expectorant and a nebulizer along with multivitamins regularly throughout his recovery. he stressed getting needed rest. he did have flu like symptoms including fever, fatigue and shortness of breath, but kept to his treatment and has recovered and done well.
keep this in mind if you're one of the unfortunate many to contract this. demand an prescription grade expectorant from your doctor and nebulizer as the real focus is preventing pneumonia from developing.
it's normal to be alarmed as many are so realize you're in good company. but also realize it's very possible you won't contract this or if you do you might no have symptoms at all. it's unfair to you mental well being to just focus on the worst possible outcome. anyway, good luck.
youre not alone. we will be ok
we are in tge same boat . i do suffer from anxiety and i am trying to stay positive and i have been reading articles and some patients that die or got worse have some sort of complication like they smokes, asthma and or just luck. the news wont say nothing i just watch a video of a young lady in the ICU and she got worse due to her smoking and she admit it and not to smoke so i do belive the bews are kind of steching the truth. i di have to work M-F and is very scary and i just take my antiamxiety meds ans pray .
for for your information only ignorant people watch news. pay attention to real sources and scientific data. there's only a 1% chance of dying from this that is a very low possibility.
chris you're by far the sharpest tool in the shed. ignorant people watch the news?...tell me you're kidding. you're basically calling everyone ignorant. and clearly by your oversight in comparing it to the flu, you don't watch the news. 10% of those exposed in italy are dying...not 1%. wake up dude!
now the flu on average kills about 1% yearly. then again, you're not informed. and chris...unless you're on some scientific team or a part of some other outfit responsible for real data in tracking all this, which i'll be the mortgage you're not, then reading so called facts online or on the internet...guess what?...that's news!
it is known that italy has a majority of elderly people and it is also very likely the case that the only ones who test positive in italy are those people who are having to be hospitalized, which causes a vast majority of perfectly healthy individuals who are capable of fighting it at home. So for that information i am almost certain that the percentage of those dying from it in Italy are ones with other health problems which would obviously increase their chances of dying!
the media is famous for exaggerating information to make it seem like its the end of the world. we knew this during the Ebola pandemic. so no, i do not consider the media to ever be a reliable source of information. if have any real sources to share i would love to disprove them got you.
chris don't get me wrong, we're all hoping you're right with regard to your take on the severity of the situation.
