Feeling dreadful.

Hello,

Can this be anxiety still?!

So for the past few months I have been having a lot of face pain. Side of temples, sinus pain, congestion sensation, eye pain and fatigue. I am also congested constantly and throwing up mucus (especially in the morning). I can feel the mucus on my chest constantly and paranoid it's damaging my lungs.

This sinus problem affects everything, my balance, headaches, concentration and overall mood. Lately my breathing, even walking 5 minutes leaves me tight chested and out of breath, dizzy and disoriented.

I keep getting this sensation that my body is dragging me to the floor, it's absolutely horrible but nothing stops it and when I bend down, the pain rushing forward is horrendous.

I am now at the point of struggling, especially at work which is a physically demanding job so seen my GP.

He is convinced, despite the physical evidence of congestion / bringing up mucus 24/7 that its all still anxiety. The breathing problems especially indicate anxiety when I argued it was the sensation of feeling my throat is blocked by this congestion. I just don't know anymore

He has prescribed me Sertraline (50mg) and propranolol (80mg slow release).

Does this sound anxiety related? In the past, my anxiety has always manifested in physical from such as leg pain.

Sorry for the moaning.

At this rate I would do anything to feel healthy again.

I may be wrong but do you have a chest infection? I should take some cough medicine for a chesty cough to help eliminate the phlegm. Sinutab could clear your sinuses or try a bowl of boiling water as a inhalation with a towel over the bowl and your head.

Hello, thanks for the reply.

No chest infection I think. It's definitely more sinus related but it's been going on for a good 6 months now. I can't keep taking decongestants or pain killers.

Steam offers some relief but within 20 mins it's back back. No winning.

Thinking of asking to see an ENT before starting this new medication.

Are you a smoker? if so then that could be causing the problems or living near to a busy road can equally cause breathing problems.

Not a smoker or drinker and otherwise healthy.

I know the breathing tight chest sensation is classic anxiety and I have had enough experience of it on the past but this doesn't feel anything related.

I actually went the walk in one day after work through being wheezy all day and they gave me ventalin which helped. I asked my GP about asthma or can it be developed at an older age but again he is convinced it's anxiety still.

All I know is, 6 months ago I was cycling 20 -30 miles comfortably and now I can barely do 5 without coughing, wheezing and we'll panicking as a result. It's frustrating to say the least.

I think it must  be asthma judging by the wheezing after exercise. Keep trying to exercise and don't forget your inhaler in case of an emergency.

Anxiety can cause all of these symptoms. However, see the ENT and asthma specialist before taking psych meds. You do not want to take any unnecessary medication.

Anxiety cause a lot of facial tension.. Anxiety and chronic comings of sinus is common. Try taking big deep breath inhaling through nose and release through mouth a few times you may notice some improvement. I notice a xanax will improve my sinus issues so I believe all my sinus complaining is actually anxiety

Xanax will destroy your brain and you will become dependant on it. BE VERY CAREFUL.
