hi all long story so ill get and keep it simple, this july just gone i started experiancing chest pains like a dull ache mainly to the left area, i also had palpitations too, i decided to go one morning to a&e and get it checked out but before i got there i felt like i was having a heart attack, breathless racing heart, dizzy etc, i managed to drive myself to a&e and after some checks i was sent on my way the same thing happened again 4 days later and more of the same tests again revealed nothing wrong. ive since had a 5 day ecg and an echocardigram which have all come back fine. bloods are fine colesterol 5.1 overall. my doctor has put it down to anxiety and ive been receiving therapy which has helped and i have also stopped drinking coffee and energy drinks and cut right back on booze too which ive drunk heavily since i was 15 ive always been a keen runner and ive done lots of half marathons and even london marathon 2015, during lockdown 1 in april i did a 5k most days but then work picked up and i stopped excersising as much. my reason for this post is ive started running again and soon as i start i seem to get palpitations which scares the crap out of me and makes me stop. also drinking wine makes me wake up in the middle of the night with palpitations too and its starting to ruin my life with worry. my dad died of a heart attack at 59 but he was a 20 stone smoker. im 39 fairy fit 16 stone. any ideas? is it just anxiety induced perhaps? ive read about adreneline surges maybe it could be that.?
yes adrenaline rushes can because by anxiety and make your heart race. Sounds like your heart is perfectly healthy. another thing is alcohol and anxiety don’t mix well. It will make your anxiety and symptoms worse.so when I have anxiety doing regular things can make my heart race. For me I know what it is so it doesn’t scare me. anxiety takes a huge toll on the body and so The body has to work harder. In that way that heart may race. The anxiety it’s self makes the heart race so it is a pain in the behind and aggravating when this happens because I know it can be scary for some people. but remember your test came out normal. you can always talk again with your doctor.
Just make sure that with your family history, every year you get a thorough check up. and blood work checking cholesterol, etc.
it would help if you were able to get your anxiety managed a little better. Consider talking to a counselor if this continues. Take care
