hi one and all
i am 2 weeks post op. Took dressing off couple of days ago only to find I have spiky stitches. I never discussed how wound was to be closed although I suppose I thought they would be dissolvable/glue.
No one has said anything to my about taking them out!
any ideas?

Hi Carol , think the normal thing is you go to your GP 2.weeks post op and the nurse or doctor take them out, I had dissolvable stitches. Which had gone by 9 days.

Did they give you a copy of the discharge letter that is sent to your GP? If so check it, there will probably be with it a paper asking you to make an appointment or appointments. Mine asked me to arrange for a dressing change 8 days post op and to have the stitches out 16 days post op. If you have no such information phone your surgery and make an appointment to have the wound checked and the stitches removed
On discharge, I had an appointment for the district nurse to call, either to replace dressing, or remove, if ok.
I had a phone call several days after discharge to make appointment for nurse to visit and take out stitches.
Hi Carol ... I agree with the others ... Is the wound closed and dry? I had an appointment to have the straples removed 14 days post op whe I was discharged .. so yes, call them and explain your situation - someone needs to have a look at it as soon as possible ... if possible, cover the wound ..

i will ring them tomorrow. My husband offered to take them out! I told him where to go. (Politely).
The pain In the scar area is very unpleasant tonight. Doing all the usual. Going to see if I can get a couple of hours is in The chair

Yes the districe nurse came to take my stitches out...but I was glued...perhape the right hand dont know what the left is doing...Hmmmmmm???

Had awfull night. Never mind onwards and upwards.
Went to hospital today as the stitches were digging in. ( I went private, mum bought me hip for Christmas!! ). Apparently they are dissolveabe but the bits sticking out needed cutting off, which she did. She informed me scar was good and she thought i was doing well.
Always nice to hear!
I have been and bought presents for two friends who are 30 & 60. So a little shopping, but I found that enough
feel tired today try to remember to have a lie down

hi carol ... I am happy that it is taken care of ... maybe you are resting right now which is good --- had Physical Therapy this afternoon and now aches and pain .. oh well ... a big thunderstorm is coming in - clouds are gathering above the heatherfields .... expecting gail force winds and hail ....so exiting .... hope they have a lightning rod somewhere ....

They have just gone so am going to sit for half an hour before I grt dinner.
