Sorry for bleating about my blister. I've added a picture. It really was scary. It's left an open wound which obviously is a concern regarding infection. Fortunately I'm now on daily visits..
Wow. How did that come on?
Just swelling and in retrospect poor advice.
Ah i see. What operation did you havw that caused that?
LTHR
Is that left total hip replacement?
Yes it is, Just being advised to keep my legs raised would have prevented it.. I'm a tad cross
Omg that's mega!!! Poor you!! Worse than the op I'd say!! Hope it heals soon! I'd be more than bleating!!
Wow that is some blister! I would be a tad cross too! My ankle had no blister but was swollen, black, blue, purple and all colours of the rainbow for two weeks post op and it worried me somewhat, but kept it raised over a pillow whenever I could. I started to imagine they must have had my leg strapped in a vice or something to cause all that.... doesn't bear thinking about what went on during the op. Do you have TED stockings? They will make the blister more painful.
In the end all will be better.
Wishing you speedy recovery and all the best,
Alison
Hi Kevin,
oops ... pushed reply too soon ..
Whoa, that looks scary - did they tell you how this could have happened? bruises I understand, but blister of this size ???
How is it being treated ? is there some dressing to protect it - are you taking anti-biotics ... is it painful?

Hi Kevin
WoW That looks like a hematoma ( Blood Blister )
I trally hope you heal soon.
I agree with other post this looks like a haematoma. Ciuld have been injury during handling you during op??
Yes it has a protective dressing and I'm on a course of antibiotics. The blister only started to develop at five days post op. It's purely due to the swelling pooling at the bottom of my leg. It only looks like a blood blister due to me being on Warfarin so a few blood cells floating round. Other than this blooming thing I'm doing really well.
Looks nasty, and to think I was worried about my ankle. Hope it improves soon, Tony
Kevin,
That is truly awful, they should have advised you on that one.
Let it be a lesson to us all, if in doubt, ask until you get a satisfactory answer.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery
Graham
